Indian women love to sew their own dresses. Presently, as we view Indian society, we notice that the majority of families follow a cultural tradition and keep a manual sewing machine in their homes. In response to this trend, Vision India has adopted a culture of contextualization to help needy women, hence, training women to cut and stitch their own dresses. Vision India has additionally founded a new sewing school in Odisha, in the Angul District. In this district Vision India has also set up a sewing school for weaker socioeconomic people groups, both the Dalit and the Muslim communities. We press forward in the work of helping women become economically self-sustainable and cultivate spiritual maturity. At present, 12 ladies are learning new sewing skills and receiving practical biblical training. Another 16 women are awaiting enrollment in this program. |
